The third episode ends with Rena at Keiichi's door. I seriously got scared there >.< Guess what Rena-chan got him this time? Food? close. Killer food? Maybe. DUMPLINGS?! Bingo! I'm guessing killer dumplings, but that ohagi wasn't much of a killer XD Keiichi is paranoid enough to reject her humble offering(I think she's fattening him up for Oyashiro-sama XDD) and Keiichi lies about his mom making him dinner, and Rena freaks him out with her all-knowing powers X.X Seriously, Keiichi sucks at lying and acting -_-
In a psychogasm, Keiichi slams the door on Rena's dainty little fingers. I kind of saw that coming, but still... I had a O_O moment. "Gomenasai! Gomenasai! Gomenasai!!"Rena begins apologizing to Keiichi, "KAIRU!!! KAIRU!!!" Go home. Well how can she if her fingers are stuck between your door and the door arch?! "Gomenasai... gomenasai..." I'm pitying Rena a bit here -nod nod- so Rena finally gets her hand free and still keeps at her mantra of 'I'm sorry's
Keiichi immediately relocked the door. He runs back up to his room and calls Oiishi, thunder suddenly roars across the dark sky, it cut off the electricity too, how convenient ^_^ Keiichi tells Oiishi about Rena visiting him. He demands that Oiishi tell him everything about her. Oiishi tells him that at the incident Rena caused in her school in Ibaraki, you know- the one where she pwned the windows- that there were victims. Apparently she smashed up three of her male friends. One of them suffered from a nasty eye wound, but none of them would press charges, they didn't even want to talk about it.(By the way, just because I said 'victims' doesn't mean she actually killed those guys XD) Keiichi freaks a bit when he sees Rena outside the window, soaked in the rain, mouthing something. 'Go-men-na-sai' He managed to weird Oiishi out a bit with those 'What is she doing here?' and 'I'm sorry...?' lines. I wonder how Keiichi managed to sleep that night? Especially since a psychotic killer loli is outside the window- bearing dumplings! XD
So next day at school and Keiichi pretends to be a Benchwarmer again. And Rena just totally ignored him. Mion walks over to say 'hi.' No reply from our batter. So she pretends to shake off the awkwardness with, "Have you always liked baseball?" and he practically tells her to leave him the hell alone. "Stop practicing swinging!", Mion's next statement. But it's not like he's bothering anyone, right? Wrong, according to Mion-san. Mion says that the bat belongs to someone else, and Keiichi's just like, "It's something a student who transferred away forgot." Kei-chan can be a total butthead sometimes... And then he goes into his I-know-a-lot-of-things-too phase. And stupidly tells Mion everything Oiishi ever told him. He goes emo and he breaks off their friendship because apparently, friends don't keep secrets from each other -_-U not a very good move, Mion turns all angsty this time. She mutters that she should've killed Oiishi when she had the chance. And that kinda freaks Keiichi out. Keiichi is prone to paranoia. Whee. It would've been smarter to confront Mion about the killer ohagi than to actually announce that it would take a whole lot more than their past attempts to kill you X_X
Later in the afternoon, Keiichi was on his way home when his spider senses suddenly tingled. He hides behind a tree and spots Rena in the distance- with a meat-cleaver. And because he's an anime character, he looks away deep in thought, wondering why sweet kawaii Rena was wielding a machete. And when he looks back, surprise! Rena's gone!
A whoosh, and Rena was standing behind him, those teleportation powers must come in handy for pushing your would-be victim into paranoia before hacking him apart with your ever shiny cleaver. Rena doesn't want Keiichi to go like Satoshi did. Rena wants Keiichi to talk to her and tell her his problems, as Satoshi didn't. Rena doesn't want Keiichi to transfer away.
Fine, so Keiichi lived long enough for his first kiss XD But I'm afraid, Kei-chan, that's the farthest you can go in this dimension -shakes head- tsk, tsk. Keiichi pushes Rena, sure she landed a bit painfully, but it sure didn't seem so as she kept at her maniacal laughter. I wonder what would happen if Kei-chan just stayed there and talked to Rena? Would she really want him to talk to her or was she going to kill him anyway? So many questions...
Keiichi runs off, hoping to lose Rena, but definitely not hoping to find more dudes that work at the garbage dump >_<
You know, these guys:
He tries to fend them off with Satoshi's bat. Even though he did manage to run away from the first two bag men, three others cut him off. He tries his new bat-swinging prowess on them, but he couldn't hit them, heck, he couldn't even reach them! One of the garbage dudes struck the back of his head, liek, really really hard. Internal hemorrhage anybody? Kei-chan falls unconscious. He soon wakes up in his room and finds Rena at his bed(futon?)side, she says his parents weren't home so she decided to call Mion over. Oh that's right, his parents were away to Tokyo! I'm sure Keiichi hated remembering that. Mion arrives all happy-smiley. They strike a nice, light conversation with Keiichi.
Mion suddenly mentions 'The Director', and Keiichi panics a bit when he couldn't get a straight answer to who the Director was. Mion says something about finishing it early, since Director-sama is coming soon. Keiichi glances at the window, a white van was parked in front of his house, the garbage men were back! Rena suddenly has Keiichi in an almost-Master lock, observe:
See? Is this finally Kei-chan's chance at love?!...I don't think so... So Mion whips out the wonder drug Keiichi suspects that they used on Tomitake:
Mion injects it into Keiichi's arm. Obviously, he went berserk. Who the hell wouldn't?! Imagine your two best friends, one is holding you back, and the other one is about to stab you with a syringe full of who-knows-what. And guess what happened next? Yes, folks, Kei-chan manages to break out of Rena's hold in a burst of strength!(Did it seriously take that much power to escape from a girly girl's grapple-lock? Geez.) Kei-chan beats their bodies beyond recognition(probably not, because Mion was lying face down so he didn't really get to bash in her face, but he did do that to Rena though...)with the bat <_< After a flashback of the nice times they had, of course. Keiichi runs over to the note he hid behind his clock, he takes it out and writes on it; That Mion and Rena are a part of some sort of crime ring, obsessed about Oyashiro-sama. He wrote about the garbage dudes and them owning a white van, about the unknown chemical substance in the syringe, and how he thinks they used it on Tomitake, too.
He takes one last look at Mion and Rena, and small wave of remorse washes over him, hence the tears and the "Doushite...?" statement -_-
Keiichi runs away from the house, right on over to the one and only phonebox in the entire Hinamizawa. He calls Oiishi and tells him what Rena told him earlier, that the murderer isn't human at all. Keiichi says that Oyashiro-sama is right behind him. I respected Keiichi as the only sane character who didn't believe in all of that Oyashiro-sama brouhaha, but the other characters got to him and managed to brainwash him too >< Oiishi forces him to turn around, but before he could do that, Keiichi takes his own life the same way Tomitake did- by clawing into his own throat.
An investigation occurs, Keiichi is the suspect and his victims are Mion and Rena. So, so far from the truth, ne?(Well sure they were technically right, but the real victim here is Keiichi!! XD)Anyway, they did find the note, that's the only thing Keiichi has that could save his ass, even if he's dead. The Bag men who came earlier might have been the ones who tore the paper's midsection off, therefore Keiichi's statement about the wonder drug is gone D: He also left a second note, saying that even if it's too late for him, he wants them to solve the crime, for him, for Hinamizawa maybe, but definitely, once and for all.
~owari~
(Here's a piccy of Hinamizawa >.<)
A decent chapter ending I suppose. I really was on the edge of my swivel chair the whole episode! Once you get used to it, Higurashi is actually really tolerable. I mean, geez people, it's only anime :p It's not like if you transfer to a new place your equally new friends are gonna end up killing you, or driving you to do the job yourself XD We can never be too sure... But I wouldn't count on it. Just remember, life is full of unexpected twists and turns. >:D
